Our Stick Reader compliments MyFarmWorks by allowing you to live read or import tag numbers, while carrying out multiple tasks quickly and effortlessly.
ShearweighPro
Connect our Stick Reader and record weights against EID numbers to create drafting sessions or DLWG reports. To increase efficiency, you can connect a Shearweigh weigh head via blue tooth to automatically record weights against individuals or groups.
EID Connect
This section allows you to wirelessly transfer tag reads via Bluetooth, group tag reads for management purposes and share data via cloud storage or email.
Can the Stick Reader be used for both sheep and cattle?
Yes, the Stick Reader is designed to be used for both cattle and sheep.
Is the Stick Reader compatible with MyFarmWorks?
Yes, the Stick Reader and our cloud-based livestock management software MyFarmWorks are designed to work together.
When you link your Stick Reader to our MyFarmWorks software you can scan tag numbers directly into the app to record there and then, or you can choose to upload animal numbers directly from the 26 management groups on the stick reader, saving you time – ask your local rep to find out more.
How do I transfer data from the Stick Reader?
Data can be transferred from the Stick Reader to your computer or mobile device via Bluetooth. For desktop computers, Shearwell provides SDL Connect software for both Windows and Mac platforms.
For mobile devices, the Shearwell Hub app facilitates data transfer and management though our three segments.
If you are looking for a printout there and then while using the Stick Reader, you can connect our mobile BT Printer to print a list of all the tag numbers recorded on the Stick and their applicable groups.
Does the Stick Reader read both FDX-B and HDX tags?
Yes, the SDL440S is capable of reading both FDX-B and HDX RFID tags, as well as implants and rumen boluses, making it versatile for various livestock identification needs.
How long does the battery last?
With a full charge, the Stick Reader can operate for at least 8 hours when using good quality (2500mAh) AA rechargeable batteries. The device also features a battery level indicator to help you monitor power usage.
Use this app with your Shearwell Data RFID Stick Reader to retrieve reads from the Stick Reader’s memory, configure the Stick Reader according to your needs and ensure the Stick Reader’s date and time settings are correct.

Shearwell’s EID Connect app enables users to connect an SDL400S or SDL440S Stick Reader to their Android or Apple mobile device.
The EID (electronic identification) numbers are read from either electronic tags or bolus) and sent to EID Connect where they are stored in a group with other reads. The data can be shared via cloud storage, email or stored locally on the device.
